As its name suggests, robusta ( Coffea canephora) is a vigorous, high-yielding crop. The highest-quality arabica + robusta beans are roasted to strong, never-bitter perfection. It is also usually used as a filler in the ground coffee beans. Arabica is also susceptible to fungal diseases like coffee leaf rust, as well as pests like the coffee berry borer.
